Season Finale Tuesday

Tonight may just be the best night of TV for the entire year for yours truly. The season finales of my two favorite programs, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars will dominate the airwaves from 8pm - 10pm. Nevermind that Idol show everyone is addicted to or any of the other shows on the Big Three. Everyone's sets should be tuned to the WB and UPN tonight for what promises to be a very interesting and entertaining night of viewing.

Let's start with GG. At the end of last week's episode, Lorelai had tearfully revealed to Emily that the marriage to Luke was all but kaput. The scene in the realtors office where Emily puts her hand on Lorelai's shoulder provided a layer of depth not seen in their relationship in some time. Way too often, Emily is portrayed as being selfish and out of touch. For the first time all season, she is truly not thinking of herself when she tells Lorelai about the house she wants to buy for her, and Lorelai is truly touched by this. However, Lorelai's sorrow is what really drives the events of last week's show. She's going out of her way to avoid Luke, and Luke is clueless to this. To make matters worse, Luke manages to keep his sister's marriage intact while still not realizing what's going on with his engagement.

Tonight, all is finally revealed, as Lorelai asks Luke to elope (and presumably tells him everything she's been keeping bottled up since April showed up). I know it's not going to end well, but the whys and wherefores won't be revealed until tonight. There are rumors that Lorelai will end up in bed with Christopher, but I wouldn't be so sure this means they'll end up having sex. Needless to say, I'm expecting a cliffhanger going into next season.

Meanwhile, the identity of the individual who caused the bus crash that killed several Neptune High student will finally be revealed on VM. My money is still on the creepy pedophile Mayor Woody (I knew he was a slimeball, but damn...), but I also think he has an accomplice and that the accomplice's identity is going to be a shocker (I'm thinking con woman Kendall). Of course, Veronica will probably figure out everything before anyone else does. And I can't wait to see how Veronica deals with Aaron Echolls being a free man. I have a feeling he and Veronica will have a meeting of the minds before tonight's episode is over. I also wonder if something will happen that will cause the real truth to come out about Aaron after he used Kendall to possibly frame Duncan (who will put in an appearance tonight!). And then there's poor Weevil who managed to pass Algebra last week but will probably end up in jail accused of Felix's murder.

Let me just say that it would be a crime if VM is not picked up for third season by the new CW Network. This season has far surpassed last season in terms of quality of acting and writing by leaps and bounds. And with Veronica about to go off to college, there will be new ground for series creator Rob Thomas to sow.

Okay, kiddies, that's it for today. I'll be back tomorrow with all the fallout from the GG and VM season finales. Can't wait to find out what happens.

Later!

~Sara
